Some browsers may allow you to pull out the image from web page (Mac: option-click, PC: right-button-click), but the following method should always work.
Click on the small image to go to the html file with the big image and caption. It should have a filename that looks something like:
http://www.netcolony.com/life/eriksu/photo/ecuador/machachi.htm
The jpeg image files sit in the same directory as the html file. In this case they have the names:
http://www.netcolony.com/life/eriksu/photo/ecuador/machachi-4.jpg
http://www.netcolony.com/life/eriksu/photo/ecuador/machachi-0.jpg
The files have a .jpg extension to indicate they are jpeg format.
The suffix -4 or -0 indicates the resolution level, with -4 being the
smaller picture and -0 being the larger picture. To download the jpeg,
just edit the site information at the top of the browser so that it looks
like one of the two examples above. Pressing return should cause your browser
to download and save the jpeg file.
Individuals and educational institutions are granted use of these images for personal/web site usage, as long a credit is included next to the image in the form of a link to this website. Please send me a message if you do chose to use an image.
A reasonable credit in html form would be:
image courtesy <a href="http://www.netcolony.com/life/eriksu/index.html">Erik Su</a>Non-profits, and commercial web sites can also use the images. However they must include credit as indicated above and register their URL with me via email. This does not include use in printed publications; contact me for rates. Depending on the organization I will probably let non-profits use the image for free.
